Independent Projects 2002 - 2008.

Evidencing Arts Project Management and Fundraising for the Arts,

Between 2002 and 2007 I was involved in many small scale arts ventures and creative projects which included mini dance tours, curation of performances, commercial events, entertainment/venue management, production and distribution of merchandise, workshops and classes. These projects were funded by varying sponsors including Kirklees council, The Warehouse Night Club, Speed Queen Events and Baskind Promotions. This work involved an extensive combination of creative duties such as choreography, performing, programming etc. as well as administrations, communications, planning, budgeting, client liaisons and product/merchandise dissemination etc. The projects were ad-hoc in nature but paramount to the development of a skill set that would support evolving successes.

My first large scale project came in 2007/08, an Indo-British Dance Exchange which took place between New Delhi and London. Most duties within this project were repeatable from previous experience but on a much larger scale since it utilised mid to large scale theatre venues including The Shriram Centre (New Delhi), The Place and The Royal Opera House, Clore Studio (London) and required international travel arrangements and the coordination of rehearsals with a second dance group. The significant difference was the handling of dual currencies since planning was done from the UK, working in the Great British Pound, but then practical aspects were actioned in New Delhi where we used the Indian Rupee.
